It’s a late July lazy, humid, Sunday afternoon. My partner has left for an eight day holiday and all the creatures in the house are either sleeping or staring out the window. It’s a state that creates the perfect conditions for me to turn to the world wide web in the search of a documentary.
After typing in some keywords such as world, civilization, history, universe, evolution etc. a BBC documentary caught my attention. The title drew me in right away “The Islamic History of Europe”. Having grown up and traveled extensively in Europe I was aware that the Arab people conquered and settled Southern Europe. Throughout those centuries they left behind large chunks of their cultures, customs, religion, arts, architecture, medicine and philosophy. However, many people are unaware of this history or refuse to accept it as fact.
